Star Wars and stuff

Hey there everypony!

It's been a while, hasn't it? Well, after a few months devoid of creative work on my part, the coming premier of new Star Wars episode inspired me to write a small crossover comic and Saturdaymorningproj once more was kind enough to help me using his awesome artwork. The effect is pretty fun I think. I hope you'll all enjoy it, even though it references The Old Republic lore which isn't as popular as that of the movies:

I was also on The Force Awakens in cinema today and I had mostly positive impressions, thought it definitely wasn't a movie directed to a person like me - that is a fan of SW expanded universe. Some things in it were really weird from my point of view, like the fact of adding maybe dozens of new alien races without using those already established in the lore (and I really love those).

With more objective faults, the political sub-plot, with the republic core worlds being casually blown to pieces, was absolutely nonsensical. While the war between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnants was very fleshed out in the Expanded Universe storyline, this movie reduced it to 4 minutes of exposition with very little cohesion/sense in all of it. Even the resistance is like "oh well, Imperials killed like 100 billion people on five planets, who cares?". Seriously, WTF?

And well, the super-weapon is so insanely over-the-top that it kills all the suspense and dread that the original Death Star could bring. It's just not believable enough to be scary.

The movie was very solid in all other parts though and I have to admit I've enjoyed it quite a lot. In my mind it will never beat the old SW lore though. Maybe I'm just too old for it and too strongly rooted in the old ways.
